August 2024: 15 Kurdish Kolbars Killed and Injured at the Borders of Iran

According to data compiled by the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 15 Kurdish Kolbars were either killed or injured along the borders of Iran during the month of August 2024. Of these incidents, 86.5% were the result of direct gunfire by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The report indicates that 4 Kolbars were killed, and 11 were injured.
The four Kolbars who were killed by direct fire in August are:
1. Asad Afranjeh from Marivan
2. Asad Aspandar from Sardasht
3. Nasser Osmani from Rabat
4. Ali Rasouli from Mahabad
These people were either shot by Iranian armed forces or died after falling from a mountain.
The majority of these incidents occurred on the borders of Kurdistan (Sanandaj) Province, where 13 cases were recorded.
Causes of death or injury are outlined as follows:
• Direct Gunfire: 13 cases (3 killed and 10 injured), accounting for 86.5% of all incidents.
• Falling from the Mountain: 2 cases (1 killed and 1 injured), accounting for 13.5% of all incidents.
Breakdown of victims by province:
• Kermanshah Province: No cases reported.
• Kurdistan (Sanandaj) Province: 13 cases (3 killed and 10 injured).
• West Azarbaijan (Urmia) Province: 2 cases (1 killed and 1 injured).
