At least 12 citizens from Sanandaj were abducted by Iranian government forces in two weeks

At least 12 people, whose names are Reza Fahim, Aso Moradi, Fatemeh Moradi, Kamaran Mohammadi, Saheb Ahmadi, Ebrahim Karimi, Wria Qamari, Saiwan Ebrahimi, Ribwar Najafian, Mukhtar Saedi, Mohsen Sohrabi, and Omid Melai, were detained and taken hostage in Sanandaj from November 25, 2022, to January 10, 2023.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, two students of Sanandaj Girls' Technical College, named Aso Moradi, from Salas-e Babajani, and Fatemeh Moradi, from Ilam, as well as a citizen named Reza Fahim, 36 years old and a resident of Sanandaj, were kidnapped by Iranian government forces.

In addition, on January 9, 2023, security forces in Sanandaj abducted Saheb Ahmadi from Nanleh town and Zaniar Saedi, 23, from Saadi town. Kamaran Mohammadi, a resident of Sanandaj's Hajiabad neighborhood, was also abducted at the same time.

Also, on Sunday, January 8, 2023, Wria Qamari, from Sanandaj, was taken to an unknown place after being kidnapped by the security forces.

Before that, on January 3, Saiwan Ebrahimi, a cultural activist, was arrested following the case of his wife, Zara Mohammadi, a recognized Kurdish language teacher, in Sanandaj court and was released after three days.

In the meantime, 18-year-old Rebwar Najafian from Sanandaj was kidnapped by government forces on Monday, January 2, 2023, and transferred to an unknown place.

On Sunday, January 1, 2023, Mohsen Sohrabi, a doctor from Bukan, was abducted by government forces after leaving Kawsar Hospital in Sanandaj. On the same day, Mokhtar Saedi, a resident of Sanandaj, was brutally arrested and taken to an unknown place by the security forces.

According to previous reports, on Wednesday, November 25, 2023, Omid Melai, a resident of the Nanleh Town of Sanandaj, was kidnapped by government forces at the Salvatabad checkpoint between the cities of Dehgolan and Sanandaj, and his fate is unknown.

So far, no detailed information has been made available about the location and conditions of detention, as well as the health status and charges against these 11 citizens
