Arman Ebrahimi detained to serve one-year prison sentence

Arman Ebrahimi, a Kurdish man from Oshnavieh (Shno), has been detained to begin serving a one-year prison sentence and transferred to Urmia Central Prison.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ebrahimi was recently summoned to the Enforcement of Judgments Office of the Oshnavieh Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office. Upon reporting, he was taken into custody to serve his one-year sentence and transferred to Urmia Central Prison.

He is currently being held in the political and ideological prisoners’ ward of Urmia Central Prison.

Ebrahimi had previously been sentenced by the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court to one year of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of “acting against national security” through membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI). The sentence was later upheld in full by Branch 2 of the West Azerbaijan Province Court of Appeals.

In July 2025, Ebrahimi was arrested by Intelligence Ministry forces in Oshnavieh. He was initially held for 12 days at the Intelligence Ministry detention facility in Urmia before being transferred to Oshnavieh Prison following the completion of interrogations. He was later released on bail pending the outcome of his case.
