Younes Hassankhan and Towfiq Akhavan detained; whereabouts unknown

In separate cases, Iranian security forces have detained two Kurdish men, Younes Hassankhan and Towfiq Akhavan, in Bukan and Sanandaj (Sine). The whereabouts of both men remain unknown.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Younes Hassankhan, a resident of Ebrahimabad village in Bukan County, was violently arrested on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, while irrigating farmland and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Sources told Hengaw that several Intelligence Department vehicles raided the Aleshin area between the villages of Rahim Khan and Ebrahimabad, where officers beat and arrested Hassankhan without a warrant.
In a separate case, Towfiq Akhavan, a resident of Sanandaj (Sine), was arrested by Intelligence Department forces on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and taken to an undisclosed location.
Akhavan's family has been unable to obtain any information about his condition or whereabouts despite repeated inquiries over the nine days since his arrest.
The reasons for the arrests, any charges against the two men, their place of detention, and their current condition remain unknown.
