Kurdish blogger Sardar Sohrabi detained by security police in Sanandaj

Iran's Security Police detained Sardar Sohrabi, a 43-year-old Kurdish blogger from Marivan, and transferred him to Sanandaj Prison after he expressed support for public demands and protesters on his personal social media account.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Security Police (FARAJA) forces arrested Sohrabi in the city of Sanandaj on Saturday, July 19, 2026, over posts he had shared in support of protesters and broader social and public demands.

Sohrabi was transferred to Sanandaj Prison after his arrest. Hengaw has learned that over the past three days he has been repeatedly taken from the prison for security interrogations and subjected to sustained pressure.

Following his detention, the Security Police's Public Places Supervision Office disabled Sohrabi's Instagram account and deleted all of his previous posts, videos, and other content.
