Khabat Veisi, a college student from Marivan and a participant in the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement, has been detained by Iranian authorities and taken to Marivan's central prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on Saturday, March 2, 2024, Khabat Veisi, a 26-year-old studying English literature at Payam-e Noor University, was arrested and transferred to Marivan's central prison to begin serving a 15-month sentence.

Veisi was sentenced to 15 months in prison on charges of "propaganda against the government" and "participation in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan" during a trial presided over by Judge Rouhi.

The Gol-e Cheydar village resident had previously been arrested twice during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, on September 20 and November 7, 2022.

Notably, Veisi was detained on January 30, 2022, by IRGC forces without a warrant. He was later released on bail of one billion Iranian tomans pending the conclusion of his trial.
