Lutfollah Parwiz, a civil activist from Gilan-e Gharb(Gelan) county and one of the ceremonial Newroz coordinators in this city, has been detained by security forces, and several other activists have also been summoned and threatened. However, the coordinators insist on holding the ceremony.

According to a report received by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday March 20th, 2024, intelligence forces raided the residence and apprehended Lutfollah Parwiz, a civil activist from Gilan-e Gharb.

According to an informed source, during the raid and arrest of Mr. Parwiz, security forces seized his mobile phone and searched his home.

Mr. Parwiz is a coordinator of the Newroz ceremony celebration that is scheduled to take place this evening Thursday, March 21st in Nawdar region in Gilman-e Gharb, his arrest is to threat and intimidate to prevent the event from being held.

Hengaw has learned that at least 10 singers and civil activists from “Gelan” , including Salam Mahmoudi, a singer have been summoned and threatened by security forces and pressuring some of them to announce on their social media networks that the ceremony has been cancelled.

Despite all the threats, Gilan-e Gharb civil activists have urged people to participate in today's ceremony with Kurdish costumes.
