Iran Arrests Kamal Lotfi, Father of 'Woman, Life, Freedom' Victim Reza Lotfi

Kamal Lotfi, a resident of Dehgolan, Kurdistan (Sanandaj) province, and the father of Reza Lotfi, who lost his life by direct fire from Iranian security forces during the 'Women, Life, Freedom' movement, has been detained once again by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, 46-year-old Kamal Lotfi was arrested after being summoned to the Revolutionary Court in Qorveh, Kurdistan (Sanandaj) province.

As of the time of compiling this report, precise information regarding the reasons for his arrest and the charges against Mr. Lotfi is not available, and his family's efforts to inquire about his custodial status have remained inconclusive.

It is worth noting that previously, Kamal Lotfi was detained by security forces on Sunday, April 15, 2023, without presenting a warrant on the streets in Dehgolan and was subsequently transferred to Kamyaran Prison.

He was eventually released from Kamyaran Prison on Monday, July 2, 2023, after spending 78 days in detention, upon posting bail temporarily until the end of the judicial proceedings.
