Javad Savari, brother of slain ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ protester, arrested

Javad Savari, a Kurdish man from Divandarreh and brother of Foad Savari, one of the young victims of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement, has been arrested by the Intelligence Department.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, Javad Savari was arrested after being summoned to the Intelligence Department in Divandarreh.

This justice-seeking brother had previously been threatened in a phone call that he would be arrested if he failed to appear at the Intelligence Department.

In November 2023, Javad Savari was similarly summoned by the Intelligence Department and threatened to prevent him from holding a memorial ceremony for his brother’s passing.

As of the time of this report, no precise information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges brought against him.

Foad Savari, a young man from Divandarreh, was killed on Saturday, November 19, 2022, by direct gunfire from government forces during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement in this city.
