Death sentence of Two Prisoners carried out in an Iranian Prison

Death sentences for two prisoners namely Houshang Nourollahi Younjanlou, a resident of Ardabil, and Mohammad Afghan, a citizen of Afghanistan, who were previously convicted of drug-related crimes, were carried out at Gorgan Central Prison, Golestan Province.

According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, two inmates—Houshang Nourollahi Younjanlou, a resident of Ardabil, and Mohammad Afghan, aged 28 and a citizen of Afghanistan—were executed at Gorgan Central Prison.

It is notable that Houshang Nourollahi Younjanlou has been detained for the past two years, and Mohammad Afghan for the past three years, on charges related to drug offenses, leading to their death sentences by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

Mohammad Afghan's execution was carried out clandestinely and without granting him the opportunity for a final visit with his family.
