Femicide in Iran: Woman Killed Under the Name of "Honor" in Ilam

Arezu Hosseini, a woman from Eyvan in Ilam Province, was tragically killed by her husband under the name of what is called "honor."
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, Arezu Hosseini was brutally murdered by her husband, Javad Jafari, who inflicted 100 stab wounds in a shocking act of violence in Eyvan, Ilam Province.
Sources familiar with Hengaw confirmed that 40-year-old Javad Jafari surrendered himself to the police. State media have referred to the incident using the vague term "family disputes" as the motive behind the murder. However, reliable sources informed Hengaw that Arezu Hosseini was killed by her husband with an honor-based motive.
It has been reported that Javad Jafari placed his wife's body in the trunk of his car and transported it to the police station.
