Marzieh Momeni, an Activist Opposing Mandatory Hijab Arrestedy by Iranian Security Forces

Marzieh Momeni was arrested for allegedly not adhering to the mandatory hijab at the entrance of Bab al-Jawad in the Mashhad shrine and was transferred to Vakilabad Prison in this city.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, May 16, 2024, Marzieh Momeni, a midwifery expert, was arrested by security forces at the entrance of Bab al-Jawad in the Mashhad shrine by forces known as shrine servants and was transferred to Vakilabad Prison in this city.

According to informed sources, this activist was arrested despite wearing a hijab and had previously experienced the closure of her workplace and the blocking of her bank accounts. Despite suffering from heart disease and asthma, she has been deprived of her medication during her detention.
