Arrests Over Social Media Posts on Ebrahim Raisi’s Death Continue by Iranian Authorities

Hamidreza Arovaneh was arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dehloran, a suburb of Ilam province, and subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Friday, May 31, 2024, Hamidreza Arovaneh, aged 27 and a resident of Dehloran, was arrested by the intelligence forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at his private residence without a judicial warrant. He was then transferred to an undisclosed location.

Hengaw has learned that this arrest is connected to the death of Ebrahim Raisi and the posting of a video on the social network Instagram.

Informed sources report that the efforts by Arovaneh’s family to ascertain his whereabouts and condition have so far been unsuccessful.

As of the time of this report, no precise information is available regarding the reasons for the arrest, the charges brought against Arovaneh, his current location, or his status.
