Kurdish Political Prisoner Akam Khezrzadeh Transferred to Prison to Serve Sentence

Akam (Abdulsalam) Khezrzadeh, a Kurdish resident of Piranshahr, was arrested and transferred to the central prison of Naqadeh to serve a one-year prison sentence.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, June 30, 2024, Akam Khezrzadeh, 28 years old and a resident of the village of "Kani Badagh" in the Piranshahr district, was arrested to serve his prison sentence and transferred to Naqadeh prison.

Previously, Akam Khezrzadeh had been sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 102 of the Piranshahr Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Majid Amirmohammadi, on charges of collaborating with one of the Kurdish parties through "carrying and possessing weapons."

Khezrzadeh was arrested on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, and transferred to one of the security detention centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Urmia.

He was transferred to Naqadeh prison on Saturday, September 10, 2022, and finally, on Sunday, September 11 of the same year, he was temporarily released on bail.
