A woman identified as Rozita Arghideh was killed by one of her relatives in Talesh, a district in the Gilan Province. The motive for the crime has been reported in state media as "family disputes."
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Tuesday, June 11, 2024, a 40-year-old woman named Rozita Arghideh was murdered in Talesh by her 23-year-old cousin, Bahram Arghideh, using a sharp weapon.
Sources indicate that the killer acted to murder his cousin after his marriage proposal to the victim's 15-year-old daughter was rejected by Rozita Arghideh. He then killed her by stabbing and slitting her throat.
Additionally, a few hours after committing the crime, the killer took his own life by ingesting pills and hanging himself. State media have also reported the killer's motive for this murder as the vague term "family disputes," similar to many other cases of femicide.
