Saveh; Mehdi Shakibafar, Attorney, Sentenced to Imprisonment

Mehdi Shakibafar, an attorney from Saveh and a member of the Markazi Province Bar Association, despite being acquitted in the preliminary court, was ultimately sentenced to 22 months of imprisonment by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Mehdi Shakibafar, an attorney, was sentenced by Branch 9 of the Central Province Court of Appeal to 15 months and one day of imprisonment for "insulting Khamenei" and to 7 months and 16 days of imprisonment for "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran," totaling 22 months and 17 days of imprisonment.
Informed sources state that after the confirmation of Mehdi Shakibafar's sentence, an arrest warrant was issued for him by the enforcement branch.
Mehdi Shakibafar's conviction comes despite his acquittal on the charges in the preliminary court, and the case was reopened at the insistence of the prosecutor's office.
