Amjad Bakhtiari, a Teacher from Dehgolan, Sentenced to Imprisonment and Flogging

Amjad Bakhtiari, a teacher with the Dehgolan (Diolan) Department of Education, who was arrested during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, has been sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to one year of imprisonment and 74 lashes, and is under increasing pressure from the Intelligence Agency.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Amjad Bakhtiari has been sentenced to 12 months in prison and 74 lashes by Branch 102 of the Dehgolan Criminal Court 2 for his involvement in the 2022 revolution, on charges of "disturbing public order and peace" and "propaganda in favor of opposition groups." The sentence has been suspended for two years.

Amjad Bakhtiari, 50 years old and a resident of Dehgolan, was recently summoned and threatened by the Intelligence Agency for what was reported as "meeting with the families of the deceased" from the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement.

Additionally, Amjad Bakhtiari faced disciplinary action from the Administrative Violations Board of Kurdistan Province, with accusations such as "participation in protests" and "insulting Khamenei," resulting in the suspension of his teacher ranking.

It is worth mentioning that he was arrested by security forces around midnight on Monday, October 3, 2022. He was temporarily released on bail in November of the same year.
