At Least 7 Prisoners, Including Three Women, Executed in Birjand Prison

The death sentences of at least seven prisoners, including three women, a Kurdish individual, and a Baluch individual, who were previously sentenced to death for drug-related charges, were carried out in Birjand Central Prison, the capital of South Khorasan Province.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the death sentences of at least seven prisoners were carried out in Birjand Central Prison. The identities of two of those executed have been confirmed as Vahid Vahdani, a 33-year-old Kurd from Bojnord, and Amir Hamzeh Barahouei-Mojarad, a resident of Fazl-Abad, Golestan Province, originally from Zabol.
According to the Hal-Vash news outlet, the execution of three women and two other men took place simultaneously, with their identities currently under investigation.
Notably, these seven prisoners were previously arrested for drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Iranian Judiciary.
To date. the news of the execution of these seven prisoners has not been announced in the Iranian state media, particularly in media outlets affiliated with the judiciary
