Saveh: Mehdi Shakibafar, Attorney, Arrested to Serve Prison Sentence

Mehdi Shakibafar, an attorney from Saveh and a member of the Markazi Province Bar Association, who had previously been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to a total of 22 months and 17 days in prison, has surrendered to serve his sentence.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, August 26, 2024, Mehdi Shakibafar was detained after being summoned to the Saveh office for the execution of sentences. He was arrested to serve his 15-month prison term and transferred to the central prison of this city.

In July of this year, Mehdi Shakibafar was sentenced by Branch 9 of the Markazi Province Court of Appeals to 15 months and 1 day in prison for "insulting Khamenei" and 7 months and 16 days in prison for "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran," totaling 22 months and 17 days. However, his longest sentence, 15 months, is to be executed.
