Tehran: Ebrahim Madadi summoned and arrested to serve a prison term

Ebrahim Madadi, a retired member of the board of directors of the workers' union of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, has been arrested after being summoned and referred to the court of execution of sentences of the Evin Prosecutor's Office in Tehran and was transferred to Evin prison to serve his one-year prison sentence.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, On Sunday, August 11, 2024, Ebrahim Madadi, a 70-year-old member of the founding of Union of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, was arrested following a summons and subsequent appearance before the Court of Execution of Sentences. This action was carried out under the orders of the Evin Court of Justice for the enforcement of a one-year prison sentence.
The Workers' Union of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company reports that this individual is suffering from multiple health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, elevated blood lipids, and prostate issues. These health concerns have delayed the execution of his sentence until now.
It is worth noting that Ebrahim Madadi was arrested by Iranian security forces on April 29, 2015, and was released after 22 days on a bail of one hundred million tomans. In August 2016, Branch 26 of Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ahmadzadeh, sentenced him to five years and three months in prison. However, this sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court, and upon retrial, it was reduced to one year.
Ebrahim Madadi was previously sentenced to three years and six months in prison for his involvement in trade union activities and his defense of workers' rights. He was released from Evin Prison after completing his sentence.
