Sardar Shahmoradian, Detained Kurdish Student, Released on Bail After 18 Months of Imprisonment

Sardar Shahmoradian, a student from the city of Sanandaj and one of the detainees of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, has been released from the central prison of this city after enduring one year, seven months, and 14 days in detention, finally securing his release on a heavy bail of 7 billion tomans. He had previously been charged with "Moharebeh" (war against God).
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, Sardar Shahmoradian, a 27-year-old medical engineering student from Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, was temporarily released from the central prison of this city until the completion of judicial proceedings.
During his prolonged interrogation and detention, Shahmoradian was deprived of basic rights, including access to a lawyer. According to a source close to the Shahmoradian family, during interrogations and torture at the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Sanandaj, he suffered a broken hand. He was also forced to make a confession against himself in front of the camera.
This student was violently arrested on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, by IRGC intelligence forces. After two months in this institution's detention center, he was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison.
Sardar Shahmoradian was accused by security institutions of "Moharebeh" and participating in the murder of a Law Enforcement Force member during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement. His case, along with three others named Keyvan Zand-Karimi, Houshang Chahar-Gargeh (44 years old), and Aram Azad, was transferred to Branch 1 of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj on charge of "Moharebeh".
