Two labor activists arrested for serving prison sentence

Morteza Saeedi and Nasrollah Amirloo, labor activists, have been arrested and transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran to serve their two-year sentences.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, 5 November 2024, Morteza Saeedi, a Kurdish labor activist from Kamyran, along with Nasrollah Amirloo, was arrested after being summoned to Branch 3 of the Sentence Enforcement Office of the Prosecutor’s Office in Shahriar. They were subsequently transferred to Evin Prison to serve their two-year sentences.
In July 2024, Saeedi and Amirloo, along with another labor activist, Mohammad Irannajad, were each sentenced to two years in prison by Branch 2 of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court under Judge Bahram Panahi. The charges included "forming a group with the intent to disrupt security," leading to a collective six-year sentence.
Saeedi and Amirloo were initially arrested on Friday, April 15, 2022, in Shahriar, Tehran Province, along with several other labor activists by security forces.
In May 2022, both activists were released temporarily from Evin Prison on bail, pending the completion of their legal proceedings.
