Explosion of military ordnance claims a victim in Qasr-e Shirin

Rahim Akbari, a demining personnel member, was severely injured when a remnant of a heavy artillery shell from the Iran-Iraq war exploded near Naft Shahr in Qasr-e Shirin County, Kermanshah Province.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, Rahim Akbari was involved in a demining operation when the explosion occurred. The shell, a relic of the eight-year Iran-Iraq conflict, caused significant injuries.
Following the incident, Akbari was initially transported to the Abolfazl Al-Abbas Hospital in Qasr-e Shirin and later transferred to a medical facility in Kermanshah for further treatment.
Murad Babakhani, the Deputy Governor for Political and Social Affairs in Qasr-e Shirin, confirmed the incident and mentioned that a bulldozer operator was injured during the operation, though he did not disclose the operator's identity.
