Arrests of shop owners participated in Kurdistan Strike against death sentences continue: Two brothers arrested in Saqqez

Two Kurdish brothers, Nariman Randani and Milad Randani, media and civil activists from Saqqez, were arrested by security forces in connection with recent strike by Kurdish shopkeepers and merchants. The two have been transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to reports received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Milad Randani, a 30-year-old civil activist and photographer, was arrested on the morning of Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his workplace. Security forces confiscated the shop’s surveillance camera and its storage device during the arrest.

In a related incident, on the evening of Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Nariman Randani, a 35-year-old media and civil activist and Milad’s older brother, was arrested on a street in Saqqez by the same forces.

Sources have confirmed that both brothers are shopkeepers and had recently been summoned by security agencies prior to their arrests.

As of the time of this report, no information has been released regarding the charges against the Randani brothers or their current whereabouts.
