Tabriz: Saman Bidar remains in limbo as IRGC Intelligence prolongs detention

Saman Bidar, a Turkish political activist from Ardabil, has been in detention for the past six days after being arrested by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city. He remains in legal limbo at the IRGC detention center in Tabriz.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Bidar has been held at the IRGC Intelligence detention center in Tabriz for the past six days, during which he has been denied basic rights such as access to legal counsel and visits with his family.

A source close to his family reported that, after repeated inquiries at the Ardabil Prosecutor’s Office, his relatives were informed that he is being held in the IRGC Intelligence detention center in Tabriz. His case is currently under review at Branch 10 of the Tabriz Prosecutor’s Office. Additionally, security agencies have erased all content from his Instagram account following his arrest.

It is noteworthy that he has previously faced legal action and convictions due to his political activities.
