Ahvaz: Arab activist Mohammad Amouri sentenced to six months in prison

Mohammad Amouri, an Arab civil activist currently held in Sheyban Prison in Ahvaz, has been sentenced to six months of discretionary imprisonment by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mohammad Amouri, a resident of Ramshir (Khalifeh), a town in Khuzestan province, was recently sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz to six months in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic.”
Hengaw has learned that during his detention, Amouri was denied access to legal representation.
Mohammad Amouri was arrested on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, when intelligence agents raided his family home with violence. He was detained alongside his father and two brothers. After 20 days in custody at the Intelligence Office in Ahvaz, he was transferred to Ward 5 of the central prison of Ahvaz (Sheyban Prison).
Amouri suffers from kidney stones and is in poor health. However, prison authorities have refused to grant him medical furlough or provide him with the necessary healthcare facilities.
It is worth noting that this Arab civil activist has previously been summoned multiple times by security forces due to his civil activities.
