Four prisoners executed in the Prisons of Shahroud, Qom, Gonbad-e Kavus, and Arak

Four prisoners, Moein Ashrafi, Habib Aghaei, Behrouz Shirmohammadli, and Sajjad Farahani, have been executed in the prisons of Shahroud, Qom, Gonbad-e Kavus, and Arak. The prisoners were convicted on charges of “premeditated murder” and drug-related charges.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Thursday, April 10, 2025, the death sentence of Moein Ashrafi, a 32-year-old man from the village of Qaleh Agha Abdollah in Bastam, Shahroud County, was carried out in Shahroud Central Prison. 

He had been arrested five years ago in connection with a multi-party altercation that resulted in a murder, and was sentenced to death. According to informed sources, Ashrafi's family had offered 300 billion rials to obtain the victim’s family's consent to commute the sentence, and the victim’s wife was reportedly in favor of reconciliation for the sake of her children's future, but the family of the deceased refused the offer.

Separately, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, Habib Aghaei, a 32-year-old man from Karaj, was executed in Qom Central Prison. He had been arrested two years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.

That same day, Behrouz Shirmohammadli, a 27-year-old Turkamen prisoner from Gonbad-e Kavus in Golestan Province, was executed in the city's central prison. He had been arrested four years earlier on a charge of premeditated murder following a street fight and sentenced to death.

Additionally, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, Sajad Farahani, a prisoner from Arak who had also been sentenced to death for premeditated murder, was executed in Arak Central Prison.

As of the time of this report, the executions of these three prisoners have not been announced by state-affiliated media, particularly those close to the judiciary.
