Hengaw – Wednesday, May 28, 2025

Sedigh Mohammadi, a Kurdish transit truck driver from Sanandaj (Sna), was arrested by Iran’s Intelligence Department amid the ongoing nationwide truck drivers’ strike.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mohammadi was detained on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, by plainclothes agents from the Intelligence Department while on a street in Sanandaj. His arrest follows public expressions of solidarity with the nationwide strike and statements of support for participating drivers.

A source close to the family reported that Mohammadi had received multiple phone summons from the Intelligence Department in recent days. Since his arrest, there has been no confirmed information about his whereabouts or condition, and family efforts to obtain updates have been unsuccessful.

This arrest comes just one day after Shahab Darabi, another Kurdish truck driver from Eslamabad-e Gharb, was violently detained at his home, also in connection with his support for the strike.

The truck drivers’ strike began on May 18, 2025, following a call by the Union of Truck Drivers and Transport Workers across Iran. It remains active and has since spread across multiple provinces.
