Border forces fatally shoot 18-year-old kolbar Soheil Ferdowsi; five killed in less than three weeks

Iranian border forces killed 18-year-old kolbar Soheil Ferdowsi from the village of Dezavar in the Nowsud District during a shooting targeting a group of kolbars at the Nowsud border in Kermanshah (Kermashan) Province.

Information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, when border forces fired on a group of kolbars in the Nowsud border area, killing Ferdowsi.

Hengaw has learned that the border forces stationed at the Nowsud border targeted the group without prior warning. Ferdowsi was shot in the abdomen and died at the scene. His body was subsequently transferred to the Paveh Forensic Medicine Department.

Hengaw's documentation shows that at least five kolbars have been killed by Iranian border forces in less than three weeks along the border areas of Nowsud (two cases), Sarvabad, Marivan, and Qatur.
