Hengaw– Saturday, June 28, 2025
Reza Hamidavi, a 21-year-old Arab man from Abadan in Khuzestan province, was shot dead by Basij forces at a city checkpoint.
According to Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on June 25, 2025, Basij forces opened fire on Hamidavi near Pirouz Mosque in Abadan, killing him instantly.
Shortly after the killing, Abadan’s IRGC intelligence unit claimed they had found a drone and explosive detonators in Hamidavi’s car — an allegation that remains unverified.
Three days after his death, Iranian security forces have still not returned his body to his family.
In a separate incident on June 26, 2025, Azad Ranaei, a Kurdish resident of Doshan neighborhood in Sanandaj, was also shot dead by IRGC forces at a checkpoint.
Ranaei was riding his motorcycle when he was stopped at the Marivan junction checkpoint and fatally shot.
