One Arab man killed, another seriously wounded after Iranian forces open fire in Ahvaz

Iranian government forces shot and killed a young Arab man and seriously wounded another in Ahvaz, in Khuzestan province, according to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
The shooting occurred on the evening of March 31, 2026, in the Kianpars district of Ahvaz, when Basij forces and plainclothes agents opened fire on a vehicle carrying two civilians.
The victim, identified as Adel Saki (Asadi), 23, from the Om al-Tamir area of Ahvaz, died at the scene after being struck by gunfire.
The second individual, identified as Havashmi (first name under review), was seriously wounded by a gunshot to the neck and was transferred to a medical facility under heavy security, according to sources. His condition is described as critical.
Sources told Hengaw that the two men were targeted without prior warning while driving, on the pretext of "failing to stop at a checkpoint.
