Sanandaj – Detention of former Kurdish political prisoner Fardin Moloudi extended

Hengaw - Thursday, July 31, 2025
The detention order for Fardin Moloudi, a 36-year-old former Kurdish political prisoner from Sanandaj (Sine), has been extended for a second time. Moloudi, who has been in custody for over a month, is currently being held in Sanandaj Central Prison despite suffering from health conditions that make imprisonment particularly harsh.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Moloudi was transferred to Sanandaj Prison on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after spending a month in detention following his arrest during the wave of widespread arrests that coincided with the Iran-Israel war.
A source close to his case confirmed that security authorities have extended his detention without providing a clear legal justification, raising concerns about arbitrary detention and the denial of his right to due process.
Fardin Moloudi has a history of repeated arrests by Iranian intelligence agencies and has served two prison terms on political charges in the past.
