Wave of Kurdish arrests continues: Six detained in Mahabad, Oshnavieh, and Piranshahr

Amid the ongoing surge of arrests targeting Kurds in the context of the Iran-Israel conflict, Iranian security forces have detained six additional people. The detainees include Edris Rasouli and Kamran Rasouli from Oshnavieh (Shno); Ahmad Mam Sharifi, Sadegh Mahmoudnejad, and Seyed Rahman Hosseini from Piranshahr; and Saadon Ghazali from Mahabad.
 
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ghazali was arrested on Sunday, June 22, 2025 by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence.
 
Earlier, on Friday, June 20, Mam Sharifi and Hosseini, both from the village of Silveh in Piranshahr, were apprehended at their residences by security forces.
 
On Thursday, June 19, Mahmoudnejad—who sustained an eye injury during demonstrations associated with the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom) movement in Piranshahr—was taken into custody, along with two brothers, Edris and Kamran Rasouli, from the village of Khaladabad in Oshnavieh.
 
The grounds for these arrests and any formal charges against the detainees remain undisclosed.
