Khabat Kardani arrested in Mahabad, family awaits answers

Khabat Kardani, a 36-year-old Kurdish resident of the village of Gagashi near Mahabad, was arrested by Intelligence Department forces in Mahabad on the evening of Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Six days after his detention, no information has been made available regarding his whereabouts or condition.

According to sources who have provided information to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, security forces carried out the arrest without presenting a warrant.

The reasons for Kardani’s arrest, any charges against him, and his current location remain unknown. His family continues to await news.
