Cartoonist Rahim Asghari arrested by security forces in Tabriz

Rahim Baghal Asghari, a Turkish writer and cartoonist from Tabriz, has been arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Asghari was detained in recent days by Iranian security forces in the city of Tabriz.

Some social media users believe his arrest is linked to his satirical criticism of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) military actions against Israel.

No official information is available regarding his whereabouts or the charges brought against him.
