Shirvan – Kurdish cultural activist Morteza Pirzadeh arrested by IRGC Intelligence

Morteza Pirzadeh, a Kurdish cultural activist from the city of Shirvan in North Khorasan Province, was arrested by agents of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization and taken to an undisclosed location following a raid marked by intimidation.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Pirzadeh was detained on the evening of Sunday, July 20, 2025, by IRGC Intelligence forces in Shirvan.
A source familiar with the incident stated that the agents entered Pirzadeh’s home without presenting an arrest warrant before taking him into custody.
In recent years, Morteza Pirzadeh has been actively involved in promoting Kurdish culture and traditional dress among the Kurdish community in Khorasan.
