Latif Yaghoubi, Kurdish Kolbar from Salmas, dies after being shot by Iranian Border Guards

Latif Yaghoubi, a 45-year-old Kurdish Kolbar from Salmas, has died from injuries sustained after being shot by Iranian border guards last week in the Salmas border region. 

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Yaghoubi— a resident of the village of Kuzeh Rash and father of one — succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. 

Informed sources told Hengaw that on Wednesday, July 16, while transporting goods as a Kolbar in the border areas of Salmas, Yaghoubi was shot directly by border guards without any prior warning. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
