Young Kurdish kolbar shot dead by Iranian border guards near Sarvabad

A young Kurdish kolbar, identified as Zanyar Irannezhad, was shot and killed by Iranian border guards while carrying goods in the border highlands of Sarvabad County, in the ongoing systematic killing of kolbars and traders by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Iranian border guards opened fire without warning on a group of kolbars in the early hours of July 15, 2026, near the border village of Dareli in Sarvabad County (Hawraman). Zanyar Irannezhad, a 28-year-old kolbar from Sardasht, was killed in the shooting.
Sources familiar with the case said the border guards fired at the group from close range. Irannezhad, who was married, was struck in the abdomen and died from his injuries.
According to data compiled by Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center, three Kurdish kolbars have been been killed by direct fire from Iranian border guards in the border areas of Nowsud, Marivan and Sarvabad in less than two weeks. During the same period, a 15-year-old Kurdish boy was also killed by Iranian border guards’ gunfire.
