Young Kurdish kolbar Peyam Ahmadi shot dead by Iranian border forces in Marivan

Iranian border forces have shot and killed Peyam Ahmadi, a young Kurdish kolbar from Sarvabad (Sewlawa), without prior warning as he was transporting goods across the Hanjiran border area in Marivan.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Ahmadi, a resident of Barqiru village in Sarvabad County, was fatally shot by Iran’s border guards. His body was discovered by local residents the following day.

Hengaw has confirmed that Ahmadi, who was married and the father of a young child, was targeted with direct fire while working as a kolbar. No warning shots were issued before the shooting.

His body remains in the morgue of Marivan Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled to take place today in his home village.
