57-year-old Kurdish Kolbar Wazir Rahimi killed by direct fire from Iranian border forces near Nowsud

A Kurdish Kolbar, identified as Wazir Rahimi from the Shahu district of Ravansar County, was shot and killed by Iranian Border Guard forces while working in the Shushmi border area near Nowsud, Kermanshah (Kermashan) Province.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Wazir Rahimi, 57, was directly targeted and shot from close range by Iranian Border Guard forces while engaged in cross-border carrying in the Shushmi border area in the early hours of Friday, July 3, 2026. He was killed instantly.

Rahimi was married and a resident of Mansour Aghaei village in the Shahu district of Ravansar County. Due to poverty and the lack of stable employment opportunities, he and his family had relocated to the border town of Nowsud about 20 years ago, where he earned a living through kolbari.

According to the latest information received from local sources, Rahimi’s body has been transferred from the border highlands to the health center in Nowsud, where it remains. His body has not yet been returned to his family.
