Five prisoners executed in the central prisons of Isfahan, Rasht, and Ahvaz

The death sentences of five prisoners were carried out in the central prisons of Isfahan, Rasht, and Ahvaz. The executed prisoners were identified as Taleb Rikani, an Arab prisoner, and Hossein Karimi in Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerdi); Farshad Hamegan and Hossein Mokhtari in Rasht Central Prison (Lakan); and Mokhtar Fazeli, an Arab prisoner, in Ahvaz Central Prison (Sepidar).

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions of Karimi, from Khomeinishahr, and Rikani, from Khuzestan, were carried out in Isfahan Central Prison at dawn on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. On the same day, the executions of Hamegan, a 52-year-old Turk from Astara, and Mokhtari were carried out in Rasht Central Prison, while the execution of 32-year-old Fazeli from Ahvaz took place in Ahvaz Central Prison.

Karimi had been sentenced to death six years ago on charges related to drug offenses, while Rikani had previously been arrested on charges of premeditated murder and sentenced to death by the Iranian Judiciary.

Similarly, Mokhtari had been convicted on drug-related charges, and Hamegan was sentenced to death for premeditated murder. Fazeli had also been arrested six years ago on charges of murder and sentenced to death.

These executions has not been published by state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the Judiciary.
