Nine prisoners executed in Iran as the annual total surpasses 1,500

Iranian authorities executed nine prisoners in recent days in prisons across eight cities, as the number of recorded executions since the beginning of 2025 rose to more than 1,500.
According to figures registered by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the total number of people executed in Iran this year has reached 1,503. Among them are 231 Kurdish people, 196 Lor prisoners, 138 Turks and 128 Baloch, as well as 45 women and 78 Afghan nationals.
Based on information obtained by Hengaw, authorities executed Mahmoud Ali Soltanabadi and Maleki (first name unknown) in Qom Central Prison at dawn on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Both had been arrested on charges “related to drug offences” and sentenced to death.
Authorities also executed Mohammad Nazemi in Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz on the same day. Nazemi had been sentenced to death for “murder”.
The execution of Mousa Golpayegani was carried out in Semnan Central Prison later that day. Golpayegani had been arrested on charges “related to drug offences” and later sentenced to death.
Authorities executed Ayoub Zeidi in Tabriz Central Prison after sentencing him to death for “murder”. The execution took place at dawn on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
On the same day, Mohammad Tajik, an Afghan national sentenced to death for “murder”, was executed in Taybad Prison in Razavi Khorasan Province.
Authorities also executed Sasan Misaghi in Yasuj Central Prison on November 22. Misaghi had been sentenced to death for “murder”.
In Bandar Abbas Central Prison, the execution of Peyman Alizadeh was carried out on November 22. Alizadeh had been arrested on charges “related to drug offences” and sentenced to death.
Kianoush Shadman, 29, was executed in Rasht Central Prison (Lakan) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Shadman had been detained for nearly four years for “murder” before being sentenced to death.
Iranian state media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not reported any of these executions.
