Iranian authorities hold lawyer Hesam Pourahmadi in solitary confinement in Lakan Prison

Hesam Pourahmadi, a lawyer and member of the Gilan Bar Association, has been held in solitary confinement in Rasht’s Lakan Prison for the past week following his arrest by Iranian security forces.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Pourahmadi, a licensed attorney, has been confined in the Misagh ward of Lakan Prison since his arrest, with no clarification regarding his legal status.

A source familiar with the case reported that security agents accessed and reviewed Pourahmadi’s Instagram account after his detention, alleging that his critical posts and comments against the government were among the reasons for his arrest.

Days after Pourahmadi’s detention, another lawyer from Rasht, Shahrazad Sharbiani, a Gilak lawyer, was also arrested by security forces and transferred to Lakan Prison on charges of “propaganda against the state.”
