Hengaw – Monday, September 8, 2025

Emad Daroftadeh, a 19-year-old Kurdish civil engineering student at Urmia University and a resident of Zioke village in Piranshahr, was arrested after surrendering himself to the Iranian Intelligence Department in Piranshahr. He took this step in an effort to end repeated threats and pressure on his family following the abduction of his father by intelligence agents.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Daroftadeh was detained on Monday, September 8, 2025, after presenting himself at the Piranshahr Intelligence Office.

On the previous day, Sunday, September 7, 2025, intelligence forces raided the family home in Zioke village in an attempt to arrest him. When he was not found, they detained his 70-year-old father, Rahman Daroftadeh, and transferred him to the Piranshahr Intelligence Office. Rahman was released seven hours later on the condition that his son surrender.

The Daroftadeh family are relatives of 16-year-old Komar Daroftadeh, who was killed by direct fire from government forces during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) uprising. Since his killing, the family and their relatives have repeatedly been summoned, detained, and threatened by security agencies.

No details are available regarding the charges against Emad Daroftadeh, his place of detention, or his current condition.
