Hengaw – Wednesday, September 17, 2025
Iranian authorities have detained Shahabeddin Haeri Shirazi, a religious activist, writer, and researcher, to enforce a three-year prison sentence. He was transferred to Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad) following his arrest.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Haeri Shirazi, a resident of Shiraz, was summoned on Monday, September 15, 2025, to the Sentence Enforcement Branch of the Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Shiraz. He was taken into custody there and subsequently moved to the prison.
In December 2023, the Shiraz Special Clerical Court sentenced Haeri Shirazi to three years in prison on charges of “propaganda against the government on social media.”
As an additional penalty, the court banned him from online activities and ordered the closure of his Telegram channel, which was considered an instrument of the alleged offense.
At the outset of the case, Haeri Shirazi had also faced charges of “acting against national security” and “disturbing public opinion.”
