Iranian authorities execute two prisoners, Hesam Bastami and Hamid Rafiei

The death sentences of two prisoners, Hesam Bastami, a Lor, and Hamid Rafiei, a Turk, previously convicted of “premeditated murder,” have been carried out in Borujerd and Zanjan prisons.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of Hesam Bastami was carried out at dawn on Monday, October 27, 2025, in Borujerd Prison, Lorestan Province. Bastami had been arrested several years earlier on charges of premeditated murder and later sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On the same day, another prisoner, Hamid Rafiei, was executed in Zanjan Central Prison. Rafiei had also been arrested on similar charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

Iranian state media and outlets affiliated with the judiciary have not reported the executions of these two prisoners.
