Iran executes eight prisoners across five prisons

At least eight prisoners were executed in recent days in the prisons of Amol, Ghezelhesar (Karaj), Mashhad, Taybad, and Sari.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the prisoners were identified as Behnam Niknam, Milad Yari, Ahmad Mohammadi, Mahmoud Valiallah, Shahab Jabari, Rahman (surname unknown), Jalal Moradi, and Erfan Afzali. They had been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder or drug-related offenses.
Behnam Niknam, a Gilak man from Amol in Mazandaran Province and father of one, was executed at dawn on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in Amol Central Prison. He had been arrested and later sentenced to death on a murder charge following a personal altercation.
On the same day, three prisoners including Milad Yari, a Kurdish man from Nurabad in Lorestan Province, Ahmad Mohammadi, and Mahmoud Valiallah, a Lor man from Nahavand in Hamadan Province, aged 41 and father of three, were executed in Ghezelhesar Prison in Karaj.
According to informed sources, Yari and Mohammadi were convicted of drug-related charges, while Valiallah had been arrested four years earlier for the murder of his wife and later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
Executions were also carried out in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, where Shahab Jabari and Rahman (surname unknown), both convicted on drug-related charges, were put to death the same day.
Jalal Moradi, who had been sentenced to death for premeditated murder, was executed a day earlier on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in Taybad Central Prison in Razavi Khorasan Province.
In a separate case, Erfan Afzali, a 42-year-old Gilak man from Rasht and father of two, was executed at dawn on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Sari Central Prison after being convicted of drug-related charges.
Iran’s state media and judiciary-affiliated outlets have not reported these executions, except for one of the eight cases that was publicly confirmed.
