Seven executions carried out in prisons across Iran

Iranian authorities executed seven prisoners in seven different prisons across the country during the early hours of Sunday, December 28, 2025.

Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights indicates that four of the executions were carried out on charges of “premeditated murder” in the prisons of Borujerd, Ardabil, Tabriz, and Qom. Those executed were Ali Safar Sepahvand, a Lor man from Borujerd; Mostafa Mehrjoo, a Turkish resident of Ardabil; Moein Hassanzadeh, a Turkish resident of Tabriz; and Jamshid Akbari, a resident of Qom.

On the same day, three other prisoners were executed on charges related to “drug-related crimes.” They were Jafar Najafi, Mousa Rahimi-Rad, and Azizali Kolkhani. Their executions were carried out in the prisons of Arak, Semnan, and Qazvin.

State media, including outlets affiliated with Iran’s judiciary, have not reported the executions.
