19 prisoners executed in nine Iranian cities

At least 19 prisoners were executed in prisons in Yasuj, Tabriz, Ardabil, Khorramabad, Khomein, Dezful, Karaj, Semnan, and Shiraz. The prisoners had been convicted on charges including premeditated murder, rape, and armed robbery.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, three prisoners — Amin Motamedi, 28, a Lor man from Yasuj; Ebrahim Abdoli, 51, fa Turkish man rom Tabriz; and Bahram Haddadshakari, 28, a Turkish man from Ardabil — were executed at dawn on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in the prisons of Yasuj, Tabriz, and Ardabil, respectively, on charges of premeditated murder.

Motamedi had been arrested five years ago following a fatal altercation, Abdoli had been imprisoned for approximately seven years on murder charges, and Haddadshakari had been detained for three years after killing a friend during a verbal dispute. Haddadshakari was transferred from Ward 1 of Ardabil Central Prison shortly before his execution.

Separately, Sajad Farhadpour, 27, from Khomein; Najafali Sagvand, 32, a Lor man from Khorramabad; and Taleb Mohammadian from Semnan were executed at dawn on Saturday, January 24, in the prisons of Khomein, Parsilon Prison in Khorramabad, and Semnan, respectively.

Farhadpour had been arrested five years ago following a street altercation that resulted in a fatality. Sagvand had been imprisoned for four years on murder charges, while Mohammadian had been detained for three years on charges of rape. Farhadpour had previously been taken to the gallows twice — once spared following mediation by local elders, and again three months ago after the victim’s family conditionally agreed to accept blood money, which could not ultimately be secured.

Hossein Banoure from Dezful, Behrouz Tahami, 44, from Ahvaz, and Mohammadkarim Najafi and Amir Moghaddam were executed on Thursday, January 22, in Dezful Prison and Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj on murder charges. Banoure had been incarcerated for approximately three years, Tahami for five years, while Najafi and Moghaddam had also previously been sentenced to death in separate murder cases.

Earlier, Behzad Ranjbar, 24, and Jahangir Farazi, 40, were executed on Thursday, January 22, in Semnan Prison, both convicted in separate murder cases.

Four prisoners — Baniamin Nobakht, 27; Ali Asadpour; Ali Shahgholi, 28, from Sorkh Hesar (Qaleh Hassan Khan); and Siamak Rouzbeh, 32, from Andisheh near Tehran — were executed on Sunday, January 11, in Semnan and Qom prisons on murder charges. Shahgholi had been imprisoned for about four years, Rouzbeh for two years, while Nobakht and Asadpour had also been on death row for similar charges.

In the latest wave of executions, three prisoners — Asghar Kaffashi, 24, and Shahin Bibak, 22, both from Amol, and Mohammad Malekizadeh, 30, from Shiraz — were executed at dawn on Thursday, January 8, in Adelabad Central Prison in Shiraz on charges of armed robbery. Kaffashi and Bibak had been detained for approximately one year, while Malekizadeh had been imprisoned for about two years. Sources said these executions were carried out secretly and without allowing final family visits.

None of these executions have been publicly announced by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.
