Landmine blast kills Baloch child, seriously injures another

A landmine blast in the firing range of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in a border area of Rask County, in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, killed a 9-year-old Baloch child and seriously injured another.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on Thursday, January 29, 2026, behind the Jakigor border regiment in the city of Rask. Marvan Shahdoust-Zehi, a 9-year-old boy from Rask, was killed in the blast, while another child, identified as 8-year-old Obaid Gahram-Zehi, sustained severe injuries.

The two children were grazing sheep in an area used by the IRGC as a military exercise zone and firing range, which reportedly lacked any warning signs or protective markings.
